100 Words 26 Emotions – # 9 Indignation
I came back from my first field assignment at Teach for India during the training phase. I had spent 24 hours with the family of any one of my students at their house. Lived the way they live, eaten what they eat, went to the community washroom, walked my way back to the school along with my student.
I saw her mother’s struggle to manage the finances, saw her father’s exhaustion at the end of a day’s work as a laborer.
I felt angry, “Life is not fair,” I thought!
It is this indignation, that gave me courage & kept me going.
